People don't wuite know what to make of the black suit constructed out of canvas, collage and driveway sealer. They seem to enjoy its visual appeal, but appear quite baffled as to the purpose of the piece. This reaction has been most observed and is also the one I like to get the most. I think the most important role art plays is its immeasurable communication value. The language of pictures has always been more vivid and articulate than words written on a page. I believe the most important thing we can do as artists is to use the gift of visual imagery to convey a thought without saying a word. |
